Anyone else having visions of Paul in drag? And I never knew he didn't own a television - the esoteric information out there is endless, isn't it? Laughing

Sounds like another fun con I missed - thanks for sharing these Estelle!

Well, when he was younger Smile . Very interesting to read these accounts!
He doesn't own a TV? But how does he watch his Louise Brooks DVDs?! Wink

Thanks, Estelle, for posting the links. They really make me wish I'd been there. *sigh*

How does Paul watch his Louise Brooks DVDs without a TV? Well, I watch DVDs on my computer as I do have a TV, but not a DVD player. Maybe, Paul uses his computer-or one of those protable DVD players with its own screen. Interesting thought. Confused

I'm also reminiscing about CT2004, Rollande. Smile I have so many pleasant memories of that con!

Annie McGann said that Paul was once approached to play Frank-N-Furter in the Rocky Horror Picture Show but declined because he was doing something else. She didn't say whether this was for a stage performance. She added that he often played girls in various theater productions at his all-boys primary school. Smile

Maybe he doesn't currently own a TV set. At the Ascension con back in November 2005 he said he would watch medical shows on TV at three in the morning. And Annie M. has said he's a fan of Big Brother, so he'd have to watch the boob tube somewhere.

That con does sound like it was lots of fun. Oh, well, I went to Memphis over the weekend to look at places for a wedding rehearsal dinner and to check out hotels for guests. My husband didn't care for my suggestion to stay at the Graceland hotel with its Elvis themed rooms. Smile

From Barking & Dagenham Post 24:

Doctor Who fanatics flood to Dagenham

05 March 2008

Tom Baker and Paul McGann, with friend

DOCTOR Who fanatics from all over the country flooded to Dagenham's Jo Richardson School last weekend for a top convention.

And there was no doubt who was the main attraction.

Tom Baker, who starred as the Time Lord between 1974 and 1981 was there in the flesh.

He told the POST: "It takes me back to old times. I could do conventions every single weekend if I wanted to. I could go to the US or Australia, because it's a worldwide thing.

"I've given it up now, but because I know the organisers and they asked me at the right time, I said yes.

"They are long days. I left home before 7am and I won't be back until after 9pm. But I'm revitalised by the children. I finished 30 years ago. It's a perfect example of nostalgia."

Also near the top of the autograph hunters' lists was Paul McGann, who played the Doctor in a 1996 TV film.

Invasion featured a long list of guests from the show's long history and was organised by 10th Planet, who are based at Vicarage Field Shopping Centre, Barking.

The audience had the chance to meet their heroes, pose for photographs, listen to talks and take part in question and answer sessions.

Paul Adgar, who came all the way from Tyne and Wear, told the POST he had come dressed as a 'Utopian Master'.

He said: "It's been very good today. They've got a very good guest list."

Paul Jones of Hampshire added: "Tom Baker doesn't do conventions normally. His last one was eight years ago. He's an absolute legend. The stuff he comes out with you just want to write it down.

I'm surprised Paul didn't get friendlier with that Dalek. I've seen a few photos of him hugging them! Laughing

Ooh, thanks for posting the picture, Estelle! They're both looking good. Though, I am wondering if Paul's developing a one-track mind. Wink He's wearing nearly the same outfit he wore last year at Invasion 7!
Shocked

Or, maybe, that's just a favourite look? Very Happy
