Handmade funds film produced by Zoe Ball starring Richard E Grant, Paul McGann

This article comes from the Monday, 25th September 2006 edition of LIFE STYLE EXTRA: Finance, News & Entertainment (http://www.lse.co.uk/FinanceNews.asp?shareprice=&ArticleRef=56303&ArticleHeadline=Handmade_funds_film_produced_by_Zoe_Ball_starring_Richard_E_Grant_Paul_McGann). A similar article appeared yesterday in the Times Online, but I can't access that one.

LONDON (AFX) - Handmade PLC, the rights ownership, film production, merchandising and licensing company, said it has made its first funding of a short film and distribution project since it joined AIM in May 2006.

'Always Crashing in the Same Car', produced by Zoe Ball, the television and radio presenter, is currently being filmed in London.

The film will star Richard E Grant and Paul McGann who have not worked together since making the Handmade film Withnail & I.

'Always Crashing in the Same Car', tells the story of two men, James and Bill, who are an important power team but personally hate each other. James is driving home after a very confrontational meeting in the early hours of the morning and runs over and kills a homeless woman. He has no one to turn to except Bill who expertly covers up the crime. We discover that James is the Prime Minister and Bill his spin doctor.

Zoe Ball has produced two short films previously -- Four Brothers and A Funeral and the award winning Tethered.

Sounds interesting. I hope this film will see the light of day, too.

Hm. Wondering who's going to play James and who's going to play Bill. I'm thinking Paul will be the "spin doctor."

Yeah, I can see PM as the spinning sort, too.

'Always Crashing in the Same Car',

The title of the short film, is also the title of a David Bowie song.

I always liked that song....

evoking images of:

making the same mistakes over and over again and not learning from them---deja vu-ish.

The short film sounds as if it could have been a longer work.
