Thought you all might be interested in this-

I just came across this again. Paulapalooza is (was) a semi-annual PMEB get-together. Nothing too organized, just a bunch of us gathering somewhere to watch his movies and act in a highly inappropriate manner.

We went to Toronto for the first 'official' one in 2000 (We did NY in '99). Paul had just begun filming his first HH. The first day, we were surprised with copies of this:

'Dear Darlings---

It's quite possible that by the time you convene in Canada I'll be sleeping in Spain. So while I'd love to say I'll be thinking of you I can't honestly be certain. But you're in my thoughts right now, and I'm smiling guessing what you'll probably get up to.

I want you to know that apart from the natural buzz I get putting food in the mouths of my kids, there's no better thrill from working than having your respect. That, and knowing I've probably been unwittingly responsible for scores of new relationships. I ask you- how could they ever doubt The Web?

Once again, my deepest thanks for your continuing support and good wishes.

I raise a glass of Cava in your honour.

Enjoy today and misbehave. And if it's too hot to sleep here--I'll misbehave too.

With Love,
Paul.'

And that, my friends, is one of the reasons I was so thoroughly rapt in the British Mercury back issues Estelle sent me a few years back! I loved reading this stuff.

What a doll. Can the man be any more charming?? Well can he? Shocked

I think not, people.

Thank you so much for posting it, Denise--I'd sort of forgotten about it--that's great to see again. Smile *SIGH*
