I decided a few months ago to take a week off in the month of September. I wasn't too sure at the time what I would be doing or if I was going anywhere(frankly I just needed the time off and the weather is usually pretty nice at this time).

One afternoon, I was on the Air Canada site and I noticed there was a seat sale....I decided to book a flight to go out west(more specifically to Edmonton, Alberta). I have some relatives and some friends out there whom I haven't seen in a while, so this will definitely be a change of scenery.

I'll be leaving tomorrow morning and then returning during the weekend.

See yaz soon!!

Hello everyone!!! Very Happy

Thanks for the good wishes and yes it was nice to have a wee bit of a holiday but I was also glad to get back home......and I was able to take a few pics during that time Akka. Wink I spent a few days in the city of Edmonton which is the capital of the western province of Alberta. During my visit, I booked a tour of the city. Our small group of seven people, including myself, were chauffered around by our guide Peter who was an excellent commentator. Not only did he show some of the fascinating sights and sounds of this rapidly expanding city, he relished us with some amusing anecdotes.

Here are some photos taken during my trip.
I hope the link works. The first pics were taken in the West Edmonton Mall(called the biggest Mall in the world). In this mall, there is a huge aquarium where seals playfully swim and flamingoes strut their stuff. Across the way is a humungous water park two stories high where there are waterslides and a large swimming area. Further down the lenghty corridors full of shops and restaurants, there is also a large skating rink.
Even if you don't like to shop, it is worth taking a walk through this huge building. Here's a link to the actual West Edmonton Mall site.

The following picture were taken outside and inside the Alberta Legislature(it is the building in which the provincial government of Alberta sits). The very last picture was taken in the Edmonton City Hall where the municipal government takes care of business. It was quite an impressive building, the architecture very original.
There were other places we also visited during our tour but unfortunaly, we would have needed a few more days to visit everything. I hope to eventually return.
I also visited some friends and family while I was there so it was great to catch up on all the news.

Perhaps the next trip(don't know when that will be yet...LOL) will be the Canadian Rockies.
