In 1994 Paul starred as Samuel Taylor Coleridge and the Mariner in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, a BBC dramatization intended as a television program for English teachers. Rather than simply dramatizing the poem, the program draws a parallel between the authorís own tormented life and his story of the Ancient Mariner doomed to wonder the earth to tell his horrible tale of killing, punishment, and redemption. While his more stable friend William Wordsworth grows in fame and literary stature, Coleridge agonizes over his own increasing opium use. This reality creates a context for the poem in which the Mariner and Coleridge plumb the depths of human despair.

Thanks Estelle, for posting these. Great caps! I have seen a few photo's of this film, but not so much. Paul looks great (and so young Surprised ).

When I was at school, we listened to a version of Richard Burton reading the poem. We all fell in lover with his voice.

Have you guys watched Pandemonium? It is a movie about Samuel Coleridge. It was interesting to me because of the Paul connection and there is the added bonus of having Sam West in it.
