...that launched a thousand fanfics.

Doctor Who, 1995.

Even though the producers pestered Paul about playing the Doctor, he still had to screen test!

But this is the hair that Phil Segal said was Paul's best feature! Segal is such a nice guy with good taste. Smile

Has anyone gotten to see the video of his screen test?
Did Gary make it available?
In Chicago, Paul said he didn't mind if it was made available on the web, but he wanted to see it first, just in case.

If you see Gary in LA, Estelle, don't forget to ask about it and remind him.

Good idea! And Mark McGann's screen test too! I was reading somewhere that Paul had seen that on the internet somewhere. I wanna know where!!

In Chicago, at that time, Paul seemed in a favorable mood about letting his audition be seen. (He could have changed his mind after seeing it.)
I don't think that it's been on the internet yet, Gary would need permission.
I got the impression from what Paul said, that Mark would not be favorable towards it. That's how I understood it.

Are those pics above, rather....a screen test or reading for Catherine The Great? Or even Hanging Gale?
Is that not Catherine Zeta Jones in the first pic?

No they come from a Doctor Who movie "making of" book that someone, I don't remember who, had.

Oh, I've never seen that.
Wow! Maybe it's on the UK DVD extra or something.

Pictures of Mark's screen test, from this book, I think, Doctor Who: Regeneration by Philip Segal and Gary Russell. Mark is cute! Very Happy These aren't his most flattering pictures though, hmm. How awkward to both be vying for the same part! Well I guess Paul wasn't actively vying for it, since they approached HIM. But still. Awkward.
